AGM and workshop on active inclusion and welfare reform Download Notice
The EU-wide economic and social strategy ‘Europe 2020’ re-commits member states to promoting ‘active inclusion’, defined by one EU website as follows:
“Active inclusion” of people at risk of poverty and excluded from the labour market entails a comprehensive policy mix combining an adequate level of income support with a link to the labour market and better access to services.”
As the Irish Government moves towards a ‘single adult welfare payment’, EAPN Ireland Working Group on Europe 2020 combines the policy and advocacy resources of a number of organisations to promote policies which ensure that welfare and pathways to work provide people with a decent living and do not deepen poverty and poverty traps.
This workshop will look at the policies needed and at ways of mobilising to achieve them.
